Nikusai (肉斎)

The Fleshless Warrior

Legend says that Nikusai renounced all carnal pleasures — he ate no meat, drank no sake, and sought no glory. His strength lay not in his muscles, but in the purity of his spirit. Like an autumn wind gliding over the earth without a whisper, he moved silently and unseen, yet could sweep aside any obstacle.

No one knew whence this wanderer came: some whispered he was the protégé of a warrior-monk; others claimed he spared an enemy’s life by refusing blood vengeance. Yet all agreed on one truth: his victories were never of the blade, but of the heart.

He roamed the roads defending the weak, and very rarely did he unsheathe his sword. Once, a hostile samurai challenged him to single combat—and stood speechless upon seeing Nikusai step forward empty-handed. His gaze radiated a calm that no steel could match, and the challenger bowed his head and sheathed his blade.

From that day on, Nikusai took his place in the Clan of  Samurmeow, where spirit is prized above steel. They say that if you meet an unarmed traveler upon a dusty road, you may be face to face with him—for whom the world is but a breeze, and the soul an unbreakable rock.
